Mean Jean Supports Kansas City 'Trans Sanctuary' For Gender-Affirming Care

Leading up to today's resolution . . . We've told our readers to maintain a healthy bit of skepticism . . .

A local news outlet attempts to balance the 12th & Oak victory . . .

"The resolution isn't a formal law or regulation. Still, it does say the city will not prosecute or fine any person or organization that seeks, provides, receives or helps someone care like puberty blockers, hormones or surgery."

However . . .

Here's what's more important . . .

JACKSON COUNTY PROSECUTOR 'MEAN JEAN' PETERS BAKER DECLARED HER SUPPORT FOR THE KANSAS CITY TRANS SANCTUARY AND HER WORDS HAVE REAL CONSEQUENCES!!!

We're not a lawyer and we don't pretend to be one on the Internets . . . Actually . . . TKC was pre-med before we took a horrible detour into blogging on the way to Albuquerque.

But here's our perspective . . .

Today, the most important declaration belongs to Mean Jean given that her office promising to "protect trans people" sets up a legal show down with Missouri and a far more serious dispute with Republican lawmakers at the state level.

Basically . . . Smarter people will question if this statement of support means that the Prosecutor's office won't enforce new Missouri laws targeting "gender-affirming" care and THAT is more than just a throw-away resolution but a REAL stance that comes with legal risks.

Of course . . . We direct readers to her words along with more info about today's resolution . . .

Jackson County Prosecutor's statement on KC Council actions today

"I firmly support the Kansas City Council’s action today. All forms of government should firmly stand against discrimination. My office does. We will continue to take all legal and appropriate steps under Missouri law to protect trans people -- who are increasingly targeted for violence and exploitation. Rather than focusing on crimnalizing trans individuals, the criminal justice system should seek to protect them. Each person needs to know they can seek health care for their needs and that those needs will be addressed."
