KC Tenants 'Victory' Worsens Slum Life?!?

Recently . . .

A politically connected protest group earned unquestioning praise for their efforts to keep locals in a ramshackle residence desperately in need of repair.

Kansas City news called it a "major win" after KCMO announced that taxpayers would subsidize $400 rent.

However . . .

INSIDERS OFFER ANOTHER VIEW OF THE SKETCHY PROPERTY AND QUESTION KCMO MAINTAINING SUCH MEAGER CONDITIONS!!!

Take a peek . . .

"This is NOT A FIX for these residents. There are a lot of good intentions here but take a look around this property and it's obvious that repairing it is a much wiser course of action than letting people stay in such dismal circumstances."

Note . . . This pix of the area are pretty bleak but still don't show a great many rats & vagrants in the area.

The insider continued . . .

"The city paying for people to live here is a simply a disservice not only to the residents but also to neighbors. We need someone willing to invest in maintenance for this location . . . The answer is not for KCMO to take over every property in disrepair, eventually that strategy is not sustainable."

Another glimpse at the entire complex . . .

"Nobody wants to see people out on the street . . . But occupying buildings simply to achieve a political victory ahead of an upcoming election isn't really looking out for the best interests of tenants or anyone else. Restoration isn't such a horrible idea . . . What's worse is having city hall become the de facto landlord of a site that's obviously in desperate need of repair."
