Kansas City police say communications companies have experienced several fiber optic cable cuts along the Interstate 435 corridor on the Missouri side. Police say the motive of cutting the cable usually is tied to individuals attempting to find copper.


Teen, 2-month-old baby missing after getting Uber in Kansas City

KANSAS CITY, Mo. - The Kansas City, Police Department is attempting to locate a missing 15-year-old girl and her 2-month-old baby. Police said Sapphire Stinson was last seen Wednesday at 2:20 p.m. at 74th Street and Bellefontaine Avenue.

KCK police announce arrest in connection to murder of 6-year-old boy

Kansas City, Kan., police have arrested an 18-year-old in connection to the fatal shooting of Sir'Antonio Brown. Cassandra Sledge, 18, was charged on Wednesday in Wyandotte County with obstructing prosecution in the case.She is being held on a $40,000 bond. Police say Sledge "knowingly provided false statements" to law enforcement.


Family of man killed by Independence police to file federal lawsuit

INDEPENDENCE, Mo. - The family of a Jackson County man shot and killed by Independence police say they plan to file a federal lawsuit. Independence police shot 39-year-old Tyrea Pryor in March 2022. Now his family is filing a lawsuit against the city of Independence and the officers involved, Jamie Welsh and Hunter Soule.


Slain woman filed kidnapping report with NKC police 2 weeks before her death

KANSAS CITY, Mo. - Less than two weeks before Riley N. O'Laughlin was killed by an ex-boyfriend in a suspected murder-suicide, she filed a kidnapping report with the North Kansas City Police Department, according to an incident report obtained by KSHB 41 News. John C. Hadley, 36, shot O'Laughlin, 27, then himself around 10 a.m.


Man sentenced to prison, ordered to pay $550K restitution for fraud against 2 Johnson County, KS, residents

KANSAS CITY, Mo. - An Arizona man will serve more than 3 years in prison and be required to pay $550,000 in restitution after pleading guilty to defrauding two Johnson County, Kansas, residents.
