Kansas City Motorcycle Takeover Season Starts Anew

Recently, many local newbs and suburbanites have sent this question our way . . .

"Why are so many motorcycles and bikers speeding through Kansas City, MO streets this weekend?!?"

Actually, this isn't a new thing and it's part of an ongoing trend . . . Allow us to quickly explain . . .

For at least a decade, Kansas City, Missouri has become a regional destination for "street takeovers" by groups of motorcycle enthusiasts.

Very much like "sideshows" these folks meet via social media and plan to stunt ride on weekend through the main streets of KCMO rather than their own suburbs.

The reasoning for these annoying & often dangerous tourists: In KC there are more people watching AND they won't likely suffer any legal consequences.

We can blame two factors here . . .

There really aren't any consequences for biker antics on local streets and prosecutors haven't made auto crime a priority.

Also . . .

Given that they're still suffering a staffing crisis, KCPD are busy dealing with violent criminals and don't have time to crackdown on grown dudes and their motor bikes. At best there's merely a hope that bikers will keep the lives and safety of other people in mind . . . That rarely happens given that many motorcycle trick riders don't even care about their own health.

Sadly, these aren't philosophical hippies like Peter Fonda in Easy Rider . . . NextGen bikers are poppin' wheelies on Japanese crotch rockets whilst hopped up on Red Bull and a myriad of substances.

Bright side because it's Sunday . . . This hot mess might lead to more organ donations.

In the meantime, it's our TKC public service to report the start of the "motorcycle takeover" season is back in 2023 and likely to last throughout the warm weather. Local drivers should adjust accordingly and keep an eye out whilst navigating their way back & forth to work.

Here's a more tame example of their antics on local streets last night via www.TonysKansasCity.com links . . .
