Local officials have taken to warning people to remain in their houses for their own safety with very little proof or "science" to back up their assertion.

"A fire at a recycling plant on Friday morning sent smoke billowing miles away, impacting air quality across the metro. The Johnson County Health Department has urged residents to stay inside if they smell fumes."

Kansas City, Kansas, fire fighters are still working to suppress a blaze at Advantage Metals Recycling in Kansas City, Kansas, that sent smoke billowing miles away and impacted air quality in the surrounding areas. As of Friday afternoon, the KCKFD says the "fire is 80% extinguished" and that "no significant air quality threat has been detected."
