Ahead of New KCI construction there were haughty dreams of a new era for Kansas City, Missouri and international glory by way of glass, steel, art and gender-affirming bathrooms.
Turns out . . .
New KCI is just a big parking lot with NOT ENOUGH SPACE to move traffic and no access for mass transit.
Accordingly . . . Given Kansas City's horrible record with big construction projects . . . Skeptics, insiders and all manner of local scumbags like TKC are asking this important question . . .
IS THE NEW KANSAS CITY ROYALS STADIUM DOOMED TO FAIL?!?!
Here are a few reasons why suspicion is justified . . .
- New ownership isn't sharing deets with the public and this plan, whatever it is, seems to be imposed on the plebs rather than the result of collaboration with taxpayers. Given the quality of the cellar dweller team . . . There's no reason locals should have confidence in the judgement of the front office.
- The push to create a bidding war betwixt municipalities hasn't inspired competition, but instead, sparked a culture of backroom deals wherein press releases seem more important than design or neighborhood involvement.
- Smarter people than TKC have said this but we think the idea merits consideration: MLB numbers reveal that baseball attendance is undoubtedly in decline . . . Harsher critics claim the sport is dying.
And so out brain trust here at www.TonysKansasCity.com wants locals to consider this . . .
Should Kansas City trust politicos elected in low turnout elections and/or owners of a bottom ranked team with BILLIONS OF DOLLARS IN TAXPAYER FUNDS???
Whatever the answer . . .
The only thing we know for certain is that it's FAIR TO DOUBT the skill & competence of the mostly losing team and local leadership . . . And it's obvious that they're going to continue dodging tough questions and direct their efforts toward manufacturing consent without much input from a deservedly skeptical public.
Developing . . .
