Police: 2 dead in potential murder-suicide shooting in North Kansas City

The North Kansas City, Missouri, Police Department is investigating after two people were killed in a shooting that is believed to have started as a domestic incident, authorities said. North Kansas City police Chief Kevin Freeman said officers were dispatched to the 1100 block of Fayette Street just after 10 a.m.


Kansas City teen charged as adult in deadly September shooting

KANSAS CITY, Mo. (KCTV) - A 17-year-old has been charged in a deadly shooting that took place near 30th Street and Montgall Avenue in September 2022. Marlando Martin-Hoskins, certified in Family Court to stand trial as an adult, faces second-degree murder, unlawful use of a weapon and two armed criminal action charges.


Suspect gets away after crashing into Kansas City, Missouri, police cruiser

KANSAS CITY, Mo. - Police in Kansas City, Missouri, are on the look-out for a suspect that struck a police cruiser Wednesday night on Prospect Avenue. Police say that around 9:25 p.m., the suspect was driving a silver Hyundai Sonata westbound on E. 68th Street.


Smithville man accused of robbing Chase Bank in Leawood, Kan.

A Missouri man is accused of robbing a bank in Johnson County, Kan. A federal jury in Kansas City returned an indictment Friday that charged Smithville, Mo., resident Troy Robbins with robbing a bank in Kansas. Court documents say the defendant entered the Chase Bank in Leawood, Kan., in February 2023 and demanded money.


Kansas City teen to stand trial as adult in deadly 2022 shooting

KANSAS CITY, Mo. - A Kansas City teen has been charged with murder for his role in a 2022 deadly shooting. Marlando Martin-Hoskins, 17, has been charged with murder in the second-degree, unlawful use of a weapon, and two counts of armed criminal action for the deadly shooting of Maurice Brown.


Vandals leave damage at baseball field in KCK's Klamm Park

One or more people vandalized a Kansas City, Kan., baseball field on Friday morning. The Unified Government of Wyandotte County's Parks and Recreation Department said Klamm Park's baseball field was vandalized. "Klamm Park is a popular place for youth baseball leagues and more," the county said in a Facebook post.


Sex crimes charged dismissed Thursday in case involving a former Boy Scout leader

KANSAS CITY, Mo. - A former Boy Scout leader who faced trial May 8 on sex charges learned Thursday those charges would be dismissed. Andrew Rowland, 47, faced charges in Johnson County District Court rape, aggravated sodomy by force and 2 counts of an abuse of a child under 18.


Man charged after victim dies in April Olathe shooting

OLATHE, Kan. - A 51-year-old man's attempted first-degree murder charge in an Olathe shooting last month has now been amended to first-degree murder after the victim died from his injuries. Christopher Marcel Barwick was arrested Sunday, April 23, after officers responded to a home near South Windsor Road and East Sheridan Street on an armed disturbance.


Police respond to 'hoax' threat at Park Hill South High School

RIVERSIDE, Mo. - There is an increased police presence at Park Hill South High School Friday morning after the school district received a false threat. A spokesperson for the district said the school received multiple tips of a "generic social media threat" Friday morning.


KCPD: Crime lab significantly reducing backlog of DNA samples to bring justice to victims

KANSAS CITY, Mo. (KCTV) - The Kansas City Police Crime Lab is significantly reducing the backlog of DNA samples waiting for DNA testing to help victims receive justice sooner. Since January of 2022, the backlog has decreased from 550 cases to under 260.

KCK faith community reacts to shooting death of 6-year-old

KANSAS CITY, Kan. - When church members fill The New Bethel Church in Kansas City, Kansas, this Sunday, pastor A. Glenn Brady will encourage them to take action. "We know faith without works is dead," he said. He plans to remind members about 6-year-old Sir-Antonio Brown, who died in a shooting about five miles from the church earlier this week.
