Kansas City Cinco De Mayo Fiesta Of News

As always . . . We remind our Kansas City friends that nobody cares about the Battle of Puebla. Besting the French might have been a big deal back in 1862 but it doesn't mean much nowaways.

ACTUALLY . . .

Cinco De Mayo is a celebration intended to foster Mexican-American pride, unity, faith & family ties and it was championed by in the early 70s by Chicano student activists.

The grassroots politically charged celebration has largely disappeared and now a drinking festival akin to St. Paddy's Day has replaced it. However . . . Because Mexican culture is notoriously pragmatic . . . No sane person is opposed to a good time, loud music and tacos.

And with all that . . . We check in one last time today and take a peek at pop culture, community news and top headlines.
