Since Friday Kansas City has suffered three homicides.
Unofficially, Kansas City's homicide count hits #70 and, once again, surpasses the record breaking pace set in 2020 - A year of civil unrest wherein KCMO suffered more killings than at any other time in recorded history.

Homicide 4181 Sterling
05-28-2023 just after 8 am, officers were dispatched on a party down in the back parking lot of the closed Applebees at 4181 Sterling Ave. Upon arrival officers located an adult male who appeared to be unresponsive and suffering from unknown bodily trauma. EMS arrived on scene and declared the victim deceased.
There is no suspect information available at this time. The circumstances surrounding the homicide are still being investigated.
Detectives and crime scene personnel are on scene canvassing the area for witnesses and evidence.

There is a reward of up to $25,000 for information submitted anonymously to the TIPS hotline that result in an arrest.

KCPD says officers were called just after 8 a.m. when a driver on I-70 called 911 to report they saw someone on the ground behind the closed restaurant.
