Jackson County Property Tax Hikes Hope To Achieve Equity?!?

Tax assessment time is hurting locals across the metro but this morning we notice some interesting verbiage emanating from the courthouse.

To wit . . .

JACKSON COUNTY TAX SPIKE JUSTIFICATION SEEM TO BE STRIVING TO CREATE "FAIRNESS" IN THE FREE MARKET!!!

Objectively, it seems that the language is cautious.

However, many of our readers seem to believe that a recent statement includes a bit of jargon from the DEI playbook that doesn't have much place in the real estate market.

Here's the money line:

"It’s just the nature of us trying to get everyone on that level playing field," said Gail McCann Beatty Director of Assessment for Jackson County. "Our goal is to get everyone at market value, so that everyone is paying their fair share."

For more than half a decade we've seen locals outraged at this practice that often doesn't have much justification.

Ms. Beatty & Jackson County exec have endured more than their fair share of criticism.

As property tax assessments escalate once again . . . There might be more political consequences for this power move despite hopes the public will obediently comply.

Jackson County homeowners seeing higher property assessments than normal

KANSAS CITY, Mo. - Any day now, Jackson County homeowners will see property value assessments in their mailboxes. This year, however, some said they're seeing increases that seem extreme. That includes one man who's lived in his Brookside home for over 30 years, and saw the highest increase he's seen since he moved in.
