Insider: Stalled Kansas City Northland Project Suspends 1000 Jobs

Over the weekend we asked around and it seems that frustration is giving way to all out WRATH as an embattled construction project languishes on Mayor Q's watch.

We've filed a few posts on the Ambassador building parking & development plan but now the discussion is reaching critical mass.

Fun fact . . . There's a ground breaking this morning which is MERELY CEREMONIAL and kind of a flex given that the the project still isn't out of committee yet.

Here are the basics and what we have learned that most local newsies don't understand . . .

INSIDERS AND LABOR LEADERS FUME AS 800-1000 JOBS HAVE BEEN PUT ON HOLD WHILST BEHIND THE SCENES POWER MOVES SQUEEZE INVESTORS AMID ELECTION SEASON!!!

Allegations fly back & forth . . . But here's something to consider . . .

- The Ambassador building project has been under discussion for more than two years and armies of lawyers have hammered out one solution after the next.

- Zoning and incentives have been drawn out and the deal is basically done.

- The chatter amongst insider is that pro-police political backing and opposition to the status quo on council have held up the deal.

Of course . . .

We know the mayor's heart is pure, his cause is just and neither he nor his team would DARE play politics with local investment dollars and workers who desperately need gigs as the global recession takes hold. Same goes for city staff, amirite?!?!

However . . . Forgive the pun . . .

The buck stops with Mayor Q given that so much back channel talk and suspicion about the local biz climate has occurred amid his tenure and effort to win a second term.

We can only hope that upcoming elections will offer some resolution and maybe move the dial in favor of jobs that are desperately needed for eager workers.

Brief aside . . .

Nobody wants to hear anything about incentives and we notice the paper is recycling garbage talking points that have been mostly ignored because Mike Hendricks writes like elderly people have sex . . . Moreover, lame protestations against incentives THAT WOULD PUT PEOPLE TO WORK are played out and don't deserve respect given the skyrocketing rate of taxes and so many social justice freebies awarded amid scant infrastructure investment.

But I digress . . .

Here at www.TonysKansasCity.com we know that money, and not dipsticks protesting, typically smooths over these disputes even amid slap-fighting which defines low turnout elections.

And so we can merely hope that political differences will yield to desperately needed jobs and better parking at our new, horribly planned airport.

Developing . . .
