Evergy files for higher customer rates, first request request in five years (NASDAQ:EVRG)

Evergy (NASDAQ: EVRG) said Tuesday it filed a request with the Kansas Corporation Commission - its first in five years - to recover investments made to modernize and increase the reliability of the power grid.

Your Evergy bill may increase by 60% this summer. Here's why, and what to do about it

As temperatures rise in Kansas City, you may see your electricity bill start to rise as well. This is due to a combination of factors, including rate increases on electricity and higher energy usage as many of us switch on our air conditioners. Evergy's Missouri Metro division is the main electricity provider for Kansas City, Missouri.

Evergy could be increasing your monthly bill by nearly $15

David Nickel, Consumer Counsel for the Citizens' Utility Ratepayer Board, or CURB, says this rate increase request was expected. He hasn't read through the paperwork, but says CURB always advocates for the best rates for customers.
