NKC doesn't have the tax base to support the team and we've yet to see how much muscle that the front office is willing to buy in Jeff City. Consider . . . It's very obvious that they aren't putting much money into the team right now.

It was no coincidence that a local business family assembled close to 100 acres in North Kansas City last fall, not long before the Royals announced consideration of several sites in and near downtown Kansas City. Rather, multiple sources say team CEO John Sherman held talks with the Merrimans before the transaction and helped facilitate it in some financial capacity.
