It's a curious complaint . . . Given that roads that connect neighborhoods, cities and nations are part of the history of Western Civilization and basically gave rise to the modern world. 

Heck . . . Even EV busses, bikes, e-scooters and all manner future transit depend on roads. 

Moreover . . .

How do these two Kansas City urban planner geniuses think that most of the consumer goods they own arrive at their doorstep . . . Should the Amazon drivers take the streetcar??? 

They might be this naive OR, maybe, they just don't want to say they're really talking about personal automobile ownership . . . Something that local leaders hope to end in the very near future.
