League announces details for Day 1 of the NFL Draft in Kansas City

In a Thursday press release, the NFL announced the Day 1 entertainment and festivities for the NFL Draft. which will begin Thursday, April 21 at Kansas City's Union Station. Draft prospects will walk the "NFL Draft Red Carpet"presented by TCL, which will take place on the Memorial Courtyard at the National World War I Museum and Memorial overlooking Union Station.

KANSAS CITY, Mo. - The NFL announced more festivities for the first day of the 2023 NFL Draft, which will take place April 27-29 at Union Station in Kansas City, Missouri. Comedians and Big Slick co-hosts Eric Stonestreet and Heidi Gardner, a pair of beloved Kansas City icons, will be featured prominently on the opening night of draft coverage and throughout the weekend.

Carl Wilkes, the first Black mayor in Johnson County, dies at 80

Carl Wilkes, the first Black mayor of a Johnson County city, has died. According to his obituary, he died Thursday, March 28, at the age of 80. Wilkes served two terms as the mayor of Merriam, from 2001 to 2009. Born on May 18, 1942 in Haskell, Okla., Wilkes moved to Olathe and then to Merriam, according to his obituary.
