1 suffers serious injuries in shooting near Independence Avenue in Kansas City, Missouri
KANSAS CITY, Mo. - The Kansas City, Missouri, Police Department responded to a shooting at 6200 Independence Avenue in KCMO Sunday morning. KCPD responded to the scene of the shooting shortly after 7 a.m. Sunday. Officers say one victim suffered serious injuries in the shooting. KCPD is investigating the shooting.
Athletic trainer at Blue Valley SW charged with two child sex crimes
OVERLAND PARK, Kan. - The Johnson County district attorney filed two child sex crimes against a University of Kansas Health System athletic trainer who was working at Blue Valley Southwest High School. Christopher Poskey, 39, of Olathe, was arrested Friday for electronic solicitation of a child.
Jackson County man sentenced to consecutive life sentences for sex crimes
KANSAS CITY, Mo. - A Jackson County judge sentenced 44-year-old John Leland Phelps to four consecutive life sentences on Friday. Phelps was sentenced to life sentences for four convictions of Statutory Rape and sodomy. He also got seven years for another sex crime conviction.
