Kansas City 2023 Homicide Victim #50 Shot Dead At Westport & Broadway

It's only April and already we're halfway to the century mark. 

This is important . . . 

KANSAS CITY 2023 HOMICIDE STATS HIT RECORD PACE AHEAD OF DEADLIEST YEAR IN LOCAL HISTORY RIGHT NOW!!!

We're running at more than 15% ahead of 2020 - The worst year for KCMO homicides on record. 

This is a big deal but something that hasn't garnered a lot of mention during election season.

Accordingly . . . Here's the first report on the latest local murder this weekend . . .

Homicide Westport & Broadway

This morning just after 1:30 am. Officers were dispatched to Westport and Broadway on a reported sound of gun shots. While enroute the call was upgraded to a shooting.

Westport security found an adult male laying in the street suffering from apparent gunshot wounds. Officers began life saving measures at which time EMS declared the victim deceased.

Contributing factors to the shooting are unknown at this time.

There is no suspect information or anyone in custody at this time.

Detectives and Crime Scene personnel are on scene and canvassing the area for potential witnesses and evidence.

Man dead after homicide Saturday morning in Westport

KANSAS CITY, Mo. - The Kansas City, Missouri, Police Department responded to a fatal shooting in Kansas City's Westport neighborhood early Saturday morning. Just after 1:30 a.m., police responded to the report of gunshots in the area of Broadway Boulevard and Westport Road. Westport security located an adult male injured from apparent gunfire lying in the street.
