Lincoln Prep teacher wins Kansas City district's Teacher of the Year award

It was a big night for one teacher in the Kansas City, Mo., School District. Lauren Palmer, who teaches social studies at Lincoln College Preparatory Academy, was named the district's Teacher of the Year on Thursday night. Students, parents and staff nominated 38 teachers, one from each building in the district.

There's a new painting at the Nelson-Atkins Museum of Art in Kansas City serving as the metro's latest, unofficial Super Bowl trophy. The 1875 oil painting is the result of a winning bet the metro's premier gallery made against the Philadelphia Museum of Art.


Jewish Family Services hosts intergenerational lunch for Holocaust survivors, Jewish youth

OVERLAND PARK, Kan. - To commemorate Holocaust Remembrance Day, Jewish Family Services hosted an intergenerational lunch where survivors were able to share their stories and inspire students from the Hyman Brand Hebrew Academy to be a beacon of kindness. "You learn how to read between the lines, you learn how to survive," said Mariann Birger, a holocaust survivor.


Royal rescue: Dog crawls into engine bay, unknowingly rides miles to Kauffman

KANSAS CITY, Mo. (KCTV) - A puppy is safely back at home after riding miles from Johnson County, Kansas, to the home of the Royals inside a car's engine bay. The driver of the car was unaware a dog had hitched a ride along her commute to work at Kauffman Stadium.
