Stolen Kansas City Ambulance Crashes Into Multiple Vehicles Near 71 Highway

The ambulance was stolen from Research Medical Center’s Emergency Room Ambulance Bay at around 2:57 p.m. on Tuesday.

"AIS responded to meet MPD officers on a reported injury collision with serious injuries. Investigation revealed that a parked KCFD Ambulance was stolen from Research Medical Center’s Emergency Room Ambulance Bay. The stolen ambulance was traveling at a high rate of speed westbound on Meyer approaching the exit ramp from southbound 71 Highway. The ambulance struck a gold Cadillac XTS, a silver Nissan Rogue, a white Nissan Sentra and a white Kia Optima. The ambulance went off the north side of the roadway, striking a tree, then traveled down the embankment before stopping in the northbound lanes of traffic on Prospect. The driver of the stolen ambulance was taken to a local hospital in stable condition. The drivers of the Cadillac and the Nissan Sentra were transported to local hospitals with serious injuries. The drivers of the Kia and Nissan Rogue refused medical treatment at the scene. All drivers that were transported are currently in stable condition and the investigation is ongoing."

KANSAS CITY, Mo. - A suspect in a stolen ambulance caused a multi-vehicle crash Tuesday afternoon, sending multiple people to the hospital with serious injuries. The Kansas City, Missouri Police Department responded to the crash just before 3 p.m. near E. Meyer Boulevard and 71 Highway.
