Shame: Kansas City Snow Removal Misplaced In Police Budget

The fight for money and power continues in Kansas City as silly season antics hit new lows.

An inconvenient fact dutifully noted by KICK-ASS INSIDERS and graciously sent our way . . .

LOOK CLOSELY AT THE NEW KANSAS CITY BUDGET . . . SNOW REMOVAL IS NOW PART OF POLICE FUNDING IN AN EPIC BIT OF HOLLYWOOD ACCOUNTING AIMED AT SNUBBING MISSOURI REQUIREMENTS!!!

And so . . .

After years of fighting over money and power . . . It seems that 12th & Oak hasn't really learned anything.

Credit where it's due . . . This would be kinda of funny if we weren't talking about services that residents rely upon amid life & death emergencies.

As for "open budget" documentation . . . Our blog community was hoping for a bit more but here's a very sorry excuse for detail offered by Kansas City . . .

One small clue . . . Snow removal is now listed under "governmental activities" and not public works.

But this behind the scenes discussion is soon to become a campaign talking point for several council candidates.

Sure, snow removal is an element of public safety . . . But unless we're talking about strapping plows to police cars (not a horrible idea) then this power move is nothing more than misdirection and yet another indication that KCMO isn't serious about supporting law enforcement, even in the midst of a historic homicide trend.

Developing . . .
