Latest Kansas City Homicide Reported After Gunfire Erupts Near Highland

Bloodshed persists on Kansas City streets and continues along a record breaking pace this election season.

Here is the first report from tonight . . .

Homicide 8300 block of Highland

Tonight about 8:15 pm Officers were dispatched to a residence in the 8300 block of Highland on a sound of shots call, while officers were on the way the call was upgraded to a shooting call

On arrival officers were directed inside the residence where they located an adult male shooting victim unresponsive.

Officers rendered aid and summoned EMS to the scene who declared the victim deceased.

Preliminary investigation indicates the shooting occurred inside the residence.

Detectives have a person of interest detained for further investigation and are not searching for additional suspects

KANSAS CITY, Mo. (KCTV) - The Kansas City Missouri Police Department has detained a person of interest after a fatal shooting in the 8300 block of Highland Avenue Sunday night. Police said they were dispatched to a residence in that area around 8:15 p.m.
