KCFD Recruiting Class Threatened Amid Worsening Public Safety Budget Battle

Behind the scenes, the 2023 budget fight hits critical mass.

According to a trusted insider . . .

AS COUNCIL SLASHES PUBLIC SAFETY CASH IN RETALIATION AGAINST MISSOURI POLICE FUNDING LAWS . . . THE LATEST KANSAS CITY FIRE DEPARTMENT RECRUITING CLASS CONFRONTS CANCELLATION!!!

In very real terms . . .

MAYOR & COUNCIL ARE NOW ENGAGED IN ALL OUT FUNDING WARFARE AGAINST PUBLIC SAFETY LEADERS!!!

Sadly, we don't REALLY have a newspaper in this town and budget battles don't make good stories for TV stations.

Nevertheless . . .

The KCMO budget battle royale is for realz and most news readers are only getting part of the story.

It would be great if this was just a struggle betwixt City Hall & mean, old Jeff City Republicans. HOWEVER, the our local progressives don't seem so righteous when they're willing to risk the lives of residents by making clandestine cuts to essential municipal resources.

Remember . . .

KCFD recruiting has been a crisis since the pandemic . . . Apparently, they've run out of cousins to hire.

A recent quote via social media that's gaining traction . . .

"It's time for (the city manager) to go to the new KCI and catch a flight back to New Jersey. We are short more than 160 firefighters in the KCFD and he has decided to cancel the new recruit/cadet class of 120. More than 60 of those vacancies are for paramedics. Our firefighters and medics are working excessive amounts of OT to keep KCMO safe. Often, this OT is mandatory. This can't continue."

And now as warmer weather approaches . . .

KCMO will desperately need more EMTs and public safety workers whilst 12th & Oak plays with purse strings SO MUCH SO that new recruits are at risk.

Developing . . .
