Kansas City Local Biz Wins Battle Against Bike Supremacy On Truman Road

For those who don't already know . . . 

Bike Supremacy is an ideology — a faith in the moral inferiority of car and truck drivers, and in the moral virtue of cyclists.

This misguided philosophy has powered quite a few unfortunate urban planning efforts in recent history but now there's a sign that locals are resisting the movement backed up by about 12 very angry KCMO hipster dudes on Twitter.

KANSAS CITY SMALL BIZ PUSHES BACK BIKE SUPREMACY ON TRUMAN ROAD AND OFFERS HOPE AGAINST THE ONGOING WAR AGAINST MOTORISTS!!!

Here's the word . . . 

"The KCMO City Council voted 12-0 to approve a new plan for the bike lanes. The revised plan will remove the south side of the bike lanes and add a permanent cycle track on the north side. Both sides of Truman Road will also have dedicated 24-hour permanent parking. It will take the city four to six weeks to implement the plan."

KCMO city leaders OK plan to adjust some bike lanes on Truman Road

KANSAS CITY, Mo. - City leaders voted Thursday to adjust the bike lanes installed on Truman Road in Kansas City, Missouri, last November. The vote came after the installation of the lanes caused frustration among business owners along Truman Road. Owners argued the lanes caused confusion for drivers and were driving customers away, thus impacting their profits.

Truman Road's new bike lanes will undergo another four to five weeks of changes.The new lanes caused headaches and safety concerns for business owners and community members along the corridor.Shawn Arcidino from Atomic Collision said the bike lanes made parking cars in front of his shop hard.
