Kansas City Urban Farm FAIL In Midtown

Allow us a moment to remember hottie Marisa in all of her glory. Fun fact: Not so long ago she dated a Kansas City rock band scumbag after he scored a couple of forgettable hit singles in the early 2000s -- Sadly, that dude was more famous for dumping all of his friends from KCMO and letting fame completely go to his head. 

And all of that . . . Leads us to this less exciting development news which reminds us to NEVER believe any promises from developers despite pretty pictures and the comforting sounds of their words.

Opponents said the developer’s original agreement when it purchased the property from the Kansas City School District in 2015 called for the renovation of the former Westport Middle and High schools, and reserving part of the property for an urban farm.

“We need to stand strong as a community and protect the ecological, health and social investment that is Westport Common Farms,” said Taylor Ford, a community resident and urban agriculture advocate.

“When this developer bid for school, it promised to give back to community, counting Cultivate Kansas City as proof.”

But developer Chip Walsh of Sustainable Development Partners, who is leading the Park 39 development with Andrew Brain, CEO of Brain Group, said the school district agreed to revoke that original agreement in 2019, allowing the developer to use the 16-acre property for any use except building another school.
