Kansas City Secretly Defunding Police By Shrinking General Fund?!?!

Don't get turned off by budget talk . . . We're gonna try to make this simple as KC's finances have often provided a labyrinth that loses the best of locals who try to stay informed.

Just like SVB debt ratios or cryptocurrency . . . Byzantine language often obscures economic fundamentals.

And so . . .

Here's the trick that's not final but remain in play . . .

INSIDERS QUESTION: IS KANSAS CITY LOOTING THE GENERAL FUND IN ORDER TO MANEUVER AROUND NEW MISSOURI LAWS MANDATING POLICE PAYMENT!!!

Again . . . The budget isn't final but these tactics are already sparking debate and frustration behind the scenes.

Here's a really great comment sent our way that does a decent job of explaining the sitch . . .

"TKC - I love your site, but PLEASE ensure you make clear that police funding come from the General Fund not General “Revenue”.  The city is artificially shorting what they put in the general fund, but when “revenue” is used, most people think the PD is getting 25% of all revenue.

"Not true.

"They are shrinking the general fund so they can give the PD MUCH less.

"KCPD is getting screwed."

Developing . . .
