University of Kansas Medical Center receives $2.48 million for youth mental health care

KANSAS CITY, Mo. - The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) has appropriated $2.48 million to the University of Kansas Medical Center Research Institute, Inc. to expand and improve mental health care for youth across Kansas.

O'Neal will perform was "DJ Diesel" at the Kansas City Live stage on Saturday, March 11, the night of the championship game at the Big 12 Men's Basketball Tournament. Tickets for the show are $20 at the door.


KC fashion designer turns Turkish textiles into handmade pieces

KANSAS CITY, Mo. - As the 22nd annual KC Fashion Week kicks off, local designer Courtney Vardar is preparing for her debut with NidaLu Handmade . "We decided we wanted to bring that dying tradition to the U.S.," Vardar said. Vardar's Turkish husband introduced her to the culture - bright colors, patterns and history.


Happy Bottoms helps families in March with Diaper Madness

There are thousands of families in the Kansas City community who are struggling to make ends meet.That's where kMBC 9 Cares for Kids and Happy Bottoms steps in.All month is "Diaper Madness."Happy Bottoms is working to raise money for 300,000 diapers for families in the area who can't afford them.Diapers are not covered by WIC or other government programs.It only takes $8 to provide diapers to one baby for a month.You can make a donation by logging onto KMBC.com/community.
