We blogged this topic recently but in this updated report the numbers look even worse and reminds us that many Americans (and probably TKC) are closer to living in those Hong Kong dog cage apartments than we might imagine.

January housing starts declined to 173 units, a 24% drop from December’s total, according to the Home Builders Association of Greater Kansas City.

As interest rates have risen, people have become more uncertain about building a home, which has driven the decline. Construction costs also have pushed the price of homes up.
