Kansas City 2023 Homicide #35: Teen Shot Dead As Local Violence Worsens

KANSAS CITY HOMICIDE NUMBERS TREND OVER LAST YEAR'S HISTORIC PACE GOING INTO AN ELECTION YEAR!!!

Remember that 2022 was the 2nd most deadly year in KCMO history. Worse still . . . We're not hearing a lot of urgency from local elected officials to do anything more than continue fighting with the cops about money & power. 

Tragically . . . The 30 MILLION DOLLAR anti-crime slush fund has very little hope of turning the tide against local violence.

Here's the evening's report .  . .

Homicide 9800 Block of Newton

This afternoon just before 2pm. Officers were dispatched to the 9800 block of Newton on a reported shooting.

Upon arrival officers located a late teen male juvenile suffering from apparent gunshot wounds.

Officers immediately began life saving measures on scene at which time EMS arrived and transported the victim to an area hospital.

At this time the circumstances surrounding the shooting are not known and no suspects are in custody.

Detectives and Crime Scene personnel are on scene and canvassing the area for potential witnesses and evidence.

There is a reward of up to $25,000 for information submitted anonymously to the TIPS hotline that result in an arrest.

We are working with Partners for Peace in all our homicide investigations to monitor risks for retaliation and provide social services to affected residents.

Teen dies in shooting Tuesday afternoon in south Kansas City

KANSAS CITY, Mo. - A teen died in a shooting Tuesday afternoon in south Kansas City, Missouri. The shooting happened in the 9800 block of Newton Avenue. Officers responded to the scene just before 2 p.m. and located the teen suffering from gun shot wounds. He was transported to an area hospital and later died.

When police arrived, officers located the teen with apparent gunshot wounds.
