Kansas City 2023 Budget Anticlimax

Despite request for public comments and a great deal of fighting behind the scenes . . . There really wasn't any major drama in this budget. 

Instead . . . We're waiting on primary results to show us how upset po-po should be about KCMO cash. 

For now . . . A few fun facts . . .

There is plenty of Hollywood accounting that hides money throughout the budget. 

Notice more payouts for housing and other programs activists have urged. 

The biggest concern for anyone paying attention . . .

Again, the budget remains 'structurally unbalanced" and, in the end, even the bond companies are concerned to see if Kansas City can stop the exodus of municipal revenue i.e. people with jobs from the urban core.

Finally . . . As always . . . The cost to keep this town keeps increasing. Check-it . . .

"The upcoming year’s budget from this year’s is increasing from $1.9 billion to $2.06 billion."

Kansas City's city council on Thursday approved a $2.06 billion budget for the 2023-24 fiscal year. The upcoming year's budget from this year's is increasing from $1.9 billion to $2.06 billion.
