Google Fiber Bunny Passing On Kansas City E-Tax To Customers?!?!

Here's a note about an up-charge that's raising eyebrows . . .

The cost increase might seem familiar to local workers and our constant suburban complainers who are also forced to pay the controversial local levy . . .

"Starting May 1, 2023, a new local access fee will appear on your bill Starting May 1, 2023, a new Local Access Fee will appear on your monthly bill. This fee will be in addition to the monthly charge for your internet plan. This fee is 1% of the monthly cost of your internet plan.

"While we do our best to include all fees in the flat, predictable price you pay for internet (like installation and hardware), this is how Google Fiber compensates Kansas City for access to roads, infrastructure and public areas for construction, maintenance, and repairs to the network.

"Previously, these fees were tied to our TV service, and now they are tied to our internet service. It's important to note that Google Fiber passes on 100% of this fee to Kansas City.

"We appreciate your business and want to thank you for being a valued Google Fiber customer."
