KMBC 9 Investigates asked Mayor Quinton Lucas if he would support a landfill in this area, specifically.
“I'm not going to get ahead of the process, what I think I would say is right now, I don't see the need for a landfill in Kansas City,” he said.
Lucas, meanwhile, said it's his job to defend all the city.
“I think right now, I have not seen the reason, the rationale, or the basis for putting a landfill in city limits including this site.”
