TKC Question: Are You Racist If You Love The Kansas City Chiefs & The Chop?!?

Admittedly . . .

THAT'S A DUMB QUESTION!!!

However, the premise of our post title is pretty much the Super Bowl argument which activists have devised in order to garner a bit of media attention on the world's biggest stage AND it's a quandary that threatens to ruin the game for the weak minded.

Double fun . . .

We believe that there might be more than a few Kansas City fans who resent the name, think the chop is stupid but don't care enough to do anything about it and don't want to play Super Bowl party pooper . . . That contingent might very well push this conversation forward long after the glory of the game fades.

Like it or not . . . Here at TKC we contend that the Chiefs moniker and so many of their problematic traditions are legacies of the past and will change sooner rather than later.

Here's tonight's criticism . . .

“People are trying to be really positive about Kansas City and what it does and how like ‘Yes, sports binds us all together,’” LeValdo, founder of the Kansas City-based Indigenous activist group Not In Our Honor, said at a news conference Thursday. “It’s not bringing our people into this celebration together. Really, it’s hurting us more because now it’s the bigger spotlight where you’re seeing this all over the world.”

Native Americans renew protests of Kansas City Chiefs mascot

PHOENIX (AP) - Two years ago as the Kansas City Chiefs were vying for a second consecutive Super Bowl victory in Tampa, Florida, there was one group outside Raymond James Stadium picketing their appearance. Native American protesters were calling for the Chiefs to drop their name, logo and their trademark "war chant" where fans make a chopping-hand gesture mimicking the Native American tomahawk.
