Senator Josh Hawley & GOP Rigorously Debate Missouri Accent And Lucas Kunce

On this topic . . . We have to side with the Pentagon candidate . . .

The Missouri accent is hard to nail down and varies from region to region.

STL has a very specific dialect and flow to their words.

Independence, MO can often sound like Arkansas. The Ozarks can easily be mistaken for Appalachia for those who get off the tourist tracks. And for some weird reason people from Joplin almost take on an overly friendly Minnesota affectation when they pronounce EVERY SYLLABLE OF EVERY WORD to strangers . . . Or that could just be because TKC definitely doesn't look like he's from around there . . .

In any event . . . This is what passes for debate in 2023 . . .

The National Republican Senatorial Committee and conservative news website The Washington Free Beacon promoted a video of Kunce saying he sounds fake. The problem, the paper explained, is that the NRSC and Washington Free Beacon are in Washington, and their expertise on Missouri might be somewhat lacking.

"Kunce's accent doesn't change from clip to clip" the Times explained. "Nor does it sound particularly Southern. In all of them, he sounds like a guy from Missouri. If the ad proved anything, it's that whomever incumbent Senator Josh Hawley hired to make his attack ads really has no idea what a Southern accent — or a Missouri accent, for that matter — is supposed to sound like."
