New KCI: An Airport Glass Menagerie

A curious line from a recent hype video got me thinking . . . First here's the New KCI brag . . .

"We'll be the largest all-glass operating airport in the United States when we open."

And so . . .

Call TKC old fashioned . . . Mostly glass construction doesn't inspire a lot of confidence.

In fact . . . The configuration invites a metaphor by way of our limited literary knowledge.

And so we ask . . .

Is New KCI our cowtown's glass menagerie?!?!

Consider . . .

In the Tennessee Williams play . . . Laura's glass unicorn seems to represent her fragility, her peculiarity and obsession with her own physical challenges and perceived frailty. Ultimately her prized unicorn breaks and she is cast back into the dark, haunted shadows of the memory play.

Meanwhile . . . Locals are going to be forced to live with this BILLION DOLLAR GLASS HOUSE and we notice a lot of folks are, curiously sensitive about the design even as they condemn and cast stones at all negative reviews.
