Kansas City Star Seyz NOW Is The Time For Chiefs Name Change

By attempting to grasp and strive toward the truth . . . Every pundit, editorialist and writer risks embarrassment.

Most people are forgiving of missteps when a errant opinion is offered good faith and with the best of intentions. The only reason that our blog has lasted so long with a continually growing readership is because our "agenda" is merely to inspire a few laughs whilst sharing information and working to garner interest and participation in our local democracy.

However . . .

TODAY THE KANSAS CITY STAR SHAMES ITSELF WITH DEMANDS TO FOR THE CHIEFS TO CHANGE THEIR NAME AHEAD OF A SUPER BOWL PARADE!!!

At best it's a C- troll but the sad thing here is that I think they're serious since nothing The Star has published in the past 25 years has made anyone chuckle even a little bit.

Here's part of their argument . . .

"Time comes for us all. We’ll have to do it eventually, so why not now? In the past few years, the Washington football and Cleveland baseball teams made their moves away from Native imagery. The large stage Kansas City is enjoying now because of the incredible talent of our team shines the spotlight even brighter on the antiquated aspects of our name and some of our traditions. It’s better to do it now, proactively . . ."

I am writing this in the middle of the night, hours after the Chiefs' 38-35 Super Bowl LVII victory over the Philadelphia Eagles. Like many lifelong Chiefs fans over the age of 30, I doubted for most of my fandom that we would ever see a Super Bowl, let alone the dynasty we have now.
