Kansas City Chiefs fans will have the rest of the week to get a photo in front of a Union Station AlphaLitKC sign. The current World Champions set will be changed on Thursday evening, but an updated installation will be set up and available for photo opportunities through the weekend.


Lee's Summit High School mourns loss of teacher who died in car crash Thursday morning

KANSAS CITY, Mo. - The Lee's Summit R-7 School District is mourning the loss of one of its teachers. Rachel Stone, a physical education and health teacher at Lee's Summit High School, was killed in a crash on U.S. 50 Highway Thursday morning in Jackson County, Missouri.

With major local win, Olathe student punches ticket to Scripps National Spelling Bee

OLATHE, Kan. (KCTV) - Olathe Public Schools is used to sending students from the district to the Scripps National Spelling Bee. Closer to home, the OPS Spelling Bee is one of the biggest academic competitions during the school year. On Thursday afternoon, 47 students competed at Summit Trail Middle School.


Guadalupe Centers Middle School in Kansas City wins grant for new instruments

KANSAS CITY, Mo. - Mr. Holland's Opus Foundation , a nationally recognized organization, has awarded Guadalupe Centers Middle School with new musical instruments. The grant provides the school with 35 new instruments and 18 mouth pieces valued at $29,100.29, according to music teacher Chase Shumsky.

Small business owner uses yard signs and donations to pay off local elementary school's lunch debt

A small business in Overland Park is supporting the Kansas City Chiefs and a local elementary school.Annie Stowe, the owner of "Annie's Barn," made Chiefs yard signs after the AFC championship game. Like any Chiefs gear, it sold fast. "On Wednesday, 100 yard signs showed up and those vanished like in seconds," Stowe said.
