Kansas City Legal Marijuana Aftermath: Local Weed Economy Already Growing

This news really only matters to residents 40 and older . . .

Long, long ago reasonable adults believed that marijuana was a "gateway drug" that would lead users into the grips of addiction and all manner of health hardship.

Now . . .

Hundreds of thousands of opioid deaths politely ignored for the most part have taught us that Americans struggling with addiction are on their own and there isn't any help coming from partisan hacks, politicos or the gubmint.

Meanwhile . . .

Tidal waves of punditry, social media chatter, what some call "the science" have removed most of the stigma surrounding the drug. Moreover, it seems silly to deny the plebs just a bit of pleasure either on their deathbed or as they're working themselves into an early grave.

And so despite generations of moralistic platitudes about the evils of marijuana . . .

What we noticed on the first day of legal weed in Kansas City was that the ground did not shake, there were no lightning bolts striking down addicts and . . . As far as we know . . . Nobody built a golden calf for everybody to worship whilst baked.  In fact, stoners pretty much continued their routine unabated and a few gullible people willing to pay top dollar for the drug lined up and smiled for the cameras.

Unreported so far . . . There was an uptick in midtown pizza sales.

Now . . .

Here's the MSM hot take . . .

The state started issuing licenses for recreational sales on Friday.

Missouri DHSS previously said 318 of the 322 medical marijuana licensed facilities in the state applied to convert their medicinal licenses to recreational licenses.

The expectation is that even more dispensaries who are already approved for medical marijuana sales will get approval for recreational sales on Monday.
