Truth is . . .

Clay Chastain is a dynamic and often controversial speaker but he's sweetheart in person and we've never seem him be anything but polite, respectful and dignified in the face of political opposition. 

For more than 30 years Clay has shown all of Kansas City that he's a very persistent man. 

And so . . .

This isn't so much about Clay . . .

1000 registered Kansas City voters signed a petition to put Clay on the ballot. In Jeff City, local Democratic leaders decry limits on the power of citizen petitions but here in KCMO our top ranking elected leader has yet to affirm the will of voters by doing the bare minimum and meeting his only opponent in person for the benefit of constituents if no one else. 

To be fair . . . All of Kansas City seems to be ignoring this election but as this nation "fights for Democracy" in Ukraine . . . It might be nice if our leaders show a bit of interest in the topic on the home front. 

And so . . . Because TKC has always been about giving the underdog a fair opportunity and celebrating our cowtown discourse . . . We share this word from the long-shot candidate and the only guy to ever win a citywide light rail vote . . .

Clay Chastain Press Release: Mayor Quinton Lucas' refusal to debate his sole opponent (Clay Chastain) is an insult to public service, the Community and further proves he lacks the moral authority to lead Kansas City.

First he told Pete Mondo he doesn't want to debate me. Then, he ignored Nick Haines' invitation to debate me at the KCPBS studios. (See email below). Why is Mayor Lucas afraid of debating Clay Chastain? Perhaps there is some sensitive subject matter,; perhaps it's his political career; or perhaps it's just easier to let a truck load of Fat Cats' money work for him. Lucas' behavior does not comport with the transparency he pledged the Community in 2019!  Even stroke-disabled Senator Fetterman had the courage to debate his opponent. Even strong-armed Sly James had the integrity to debate his opponents.

It is my view that voters should not reelect a Mayor who thinks... he is Emperor, above being transparent, above debating his opponent and above having to defend his record before the people of Kansas City.
