Will Jackson County Vote Boost Kansas City Weed Black Market???

Spoiler . . . Yes, yes it will.

Nevertheless . . .

Local politicos can't help themselves from seeing green amid a surge of potential revenue from this cash crop. 

The only problem . . . Politicos aren't economists and they don't understand even the basic lessons from the intro to Ferris Bueller's Day Off . . . 

Basically this . . . 

"One implication of the Laffer curve is that increasing tax rates beyond a certain point is counter-productive for raising further tax revenue. Conservatives, classical liberals etc. in various countries use the Laffer curve to argue that lower taxes may increase tax revenue."

But we can agree to disagree about economic theory . . .

What we know for sure is that locals LOVE discounts and all of these taxes will do NOTHING but guarantee that our homegrown drug dealers will not only keep their customers but also operate with greater freedom and more legal protection.

The legislature’s decision comes after county leaders worked out a plan Tuesday about how they’d like to spend that revenue.

Jackson County legislators agreed to a compromise and managed to get the question on the ballot just before Tuesday’s ballot.

The ballot question will tell voters that, if approved, the county would create a special revenue fund for community services and veteran support services, but it will also be part of Jackson County’s general revenue, which legislators control.

Jackson County will put local marijuana tax before voters in April

KANSAS CITY, Mo. - Jackson County voters will now get to decide in April if the county can tax recreational marijuana sales. The legislature's decision comes after county leaders worked out a plan Tuesday about how they'd like to spend that revenue.
