Leawood police are investigating after a car was dragged about eight miles while trapped under a semi-truck Wednesday morning.
Police from several area agencies started receiving calls around 3:40 a.m. that a semi-truck driving westbound on Interstate 435 was dragging a silver Kia under the edge of its trailer, according to Capt. Brad Robbins, a spokesman for the Leawood Police Department.

LEAWOOD, Kan. - Leawood police say a semi-truck dragged a Kia compact car roughly eight miles along I-435 after the car was trapped under the semi Wednesday morning. Just after 3:30 a.m., dispatchers received a call of a semi-truck dragging the Kia under the edge of its trailer on westbound I-435.

A 28-year-old woman was hospitalized early Wednesday after a semitrailer dragged her vehicle nearly eight miles after a crash. Just after 3:30 a.m. on Wednesday, a small car became trapped under a semitrailer on Interstate 435. Leawood police said the crash happened at the intersection of the on-ramp to Westbound I-435 and State Line Road.
