Kansas City's 2nd 2023 Homicide On Sunday

Sadly, the spate of local killing only took a brief pause for the New Year.

This is the 2nd homicide reported today, already KC is ahead of last year's pace.

Here is the first report . . . 

Homicide 1600 block E 77th ter.

Tonight just after 8pm officers were called to University Health Hospital East/Lakewood (TMC Lakewood) on a shooting call. A shooting victim arrived at the hospital by private vehicle. That victim (a male, unknown age) was declared deceased by medical personnel at the hospital.

Officers at the hospital determined the shooting happened in the 1600 block of E 77th ter. 

Additional officers responded to that location and located an apparent crime scene.

Detectives are on 77th ter along with crime scene investigators to canvass for any witnesses and process the scene for evidence that may give detectives a better idea of what led up to the shooting.

KCPD investigating fatal shooting near 1600 block of E. 77th

KANSAS CITY, Mo. - The Kansas City, Missouri, Police Department is investigating a fatal shooting believed to have occurred Sunday in the 1600 block of E. 77th Terrace. Police say a shooting victim was dropped off at an area hospital. Based on information provided to officers, KCPD has reason to believe the scene was on 77th Terrace.
