Kansas City Streetcar Expansion Steel Plate Bridges Spark Concern

This week Kansas City news watchers witnessed a bevy of "news" coverage about streetcar rails arriving.

That's cool . . . But here's what is missing from that story . . .

BIZ ON KANSAS CITY MAIN STREET NOW ENJOYS NEW, FLIMSY STEEL PLATE BRIDGES!!!

Here's a closer look at the "solution" that doesn't seem elegant at all . . .

Even closer . . .

A KICK-ASS TKC READER who might or might not also work as an Uber Eats driver offered his view of the sitch:

"This must be costing these businesses a ton of customers. I was scared my compact car wouldn't make it across. Who knows if any two-ton trucks are going to have a problem. Not only is there a maze on Main but now there's this 4 foot moat around about a dozen places and you have to cross the flimsy looking bridge to get across. Is this the best they could come up with???"

Sadly . . .

Our readers are the first & only people to ask that question given that cowtown toy train coverage is just one developer hack on the payroll of a few developer companies.

In the meantime . . .

We remember that streetcar impact for local biz isn't new and a very similar situation helped to close more than half of the restaurants who complained of this same situation back in 2015.

For the sake of local foodies . . . We can only hope that this sketchy transit apparatus in place doesn't endanger late night patrons.

Developing . . .
