Kansas City Star Now Hiring Op/Ed Writers

Given their subscriber, advertiser troubles . . . We're fine hanging out on our humble, little blog given what are likely some very stringent writing limits at the newspaper . . . They probably don't love finely-aged Brit hottie models as much as we do.

But I digress . . .

Local newsman expert JimmyC offers his take that's generous but filled with a great deal of insight:

Back in 2018, The Star may have had “one of the strongest local Editorial Boards in America,” but it’s a long way from that now.

The Star is also advertising for an additional opinion writer, which, after those two jobs have been filled, will leave the paper with four editorial board members.

Don't let us discourage any potential job candidates . . . I'm sure they'd welcome our blog community with open arms. Feel free to use TKC as a reference . . .

The Star's depleted opinion page

As recently as four or five years ago, The Kansas City Star had an either seven- or eight-member editorial board, headed by then-Publisher Tony Berg. The talented journalists on the board included Pulitzer-Prize winner Colleen McCain Nelson, editorial page editor; Melinda Henneberger; Mary Sanchez; and Dave Helling.
