An ongoing Kansas City tragedy continues into the new year and doesn't a break for Sunday.
Sadly, this is a sign that nothing much has changed.
The Mayor's promise to reduce the homicide count to under 100 seems like empty campaign talk.
Both debates over police funding and gun control yield very little progress.
And voters seem to understand that so-called "local control" is a sordid hot mess that we'll have to wait until after the election to unpack.
In the meantime, here's report in the aftermath of continued deadly local gunfire . . .
Homicide 2000 block E. 73rd st
This morning just before 1am officers were called to a house in the 2000 block of E. 73rd St. on a shooting.
On
arrival they were directed to the front yard of the residence where
they located 2 shooting victims, one adult male and one adult female,
unresponsive.
Officers summoned EMS to
the scene for treatment of the victims. EMS declared the adult male
victim deceased here at the scene, and transported the adult female
victim to the hospital with life threatening injuries.
Detectives
and crime scene personnel are canvassing for witnesses and processing
the scene for evidence to hopefully get a better idea of what led up to
the shooting.
If anyone saw anything
or has any information they are asked to contact the Homicide Unit
directly at 816-234-5043 or the TIPS Hotline anonymously at 816-474-TIPS, there is a reward of up to $25,000 for information submitted anonymously to the TIPS hotline.
