Kansas City Preps Lowest Turnout Municipal Election In Local History

With only a long-shot challenger confronting the mayor who doesn't even have a campaign committee organized . . . We really can't blame voters for ignoring the upcoming election. 

Meanwhile, here's a few obligatory lists put together half halfheartedly . . .

"The last day to register to vote in time for the April 4th election is March 8th. Because of new Missouri law, you must show a valid government-issued photo ID at the polls. Accepted IDs include a Missouri driver’s license, U.S. passport or a veteran’s ID card."

By John Sharp Candidate filing has already closed for local municipal and school board elections that will be held on April 4. In the city of Grandview, Mayor Leonard D. Jones, Jr., Ward 3 Alderman John T. Maloney and Municipal Judge Ronald E. Johnson are all unopposed for reelection.

All 12 of Kansas City's council seats and the mayor's office will be up for election in the April 4th primary. A total of 40 candidates are running for the open city council seats, with seven current council members seeking re-election. Candidates running for "in-district" seats are elected by the voters living in that district.
