Kansas City 2023 Homicide #9: Gunfire Erupts Inside Residence & Kills Man

A late night disturbance turns deadly and Kansas City's homicide count continues to keep pace with the historic, rising trend over the past few years.;

Here's the first report . . .

Homicide 3400 block of Chestnut

This morning just after 12:30am officers were dispatched to a shooting call at a house in the 3400 block of Chestnut.

On arrival they located several people inside the residence, among them an adult male shooting victim was unresponsive and an adult female shooting victim with what is believed to be minor gunshot injuries.

EMS responded and transported the female to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries. They further declared the male victim deceased at the scene.

Investigation indicates the shooting occurred inside the residence when a verbal altercation turned to gunfire from one or more subjects and the victims were struck.

Officers have detained multiple persons of interest for further investigation and are not looking for any additional suspects at this time.

KANSAS CITY, Mo. - Kansas City Police say they are investigating a homicide near 34th and Chestnut. Police say they were called to the area around 12:30 a.m. on a shooting call. Police say when they arrived, they found several people inside the home. A man was shot and later died at the scene.
