Here's the first report as KCMO homicide stats continue to keep pace with a deadly trend that has taken hold over the past four years . . .
Homicide 55th and Swope Pkwy
This morning just before 1am, officers were called to shots fired in the area of Meyer and Swope. Upon their arrival, they began canvassing the area and located the victim inside a vehicle just north of E 55th Street and Cleveland Ave. The victim was suffering from apparent gunshot wounds. EMS responded and declared the victim deceased at the scene.
Detectives and Crime Scene Personnel have responded to the scene. They will be processing the scene for evidence and canvassing for any witnesses.

Just before 1 a.m., officers responded to the area. Police discovered a man with gunshot wounds in a vehicle just north of east 55th Street and Cleveland Avenue.

The Kansas City, Missouri Police Department is investigating a homicide that occurred overnight Sunday in Kansas City. Just before one a.m., officers were alerted to the sound of gunfire in the area of Meyer Blvd. and Swope Pkwy. Upon arrival, KCPD began canvassing the area and located a victim inside a vehicle just north of East 55th Street and Cleveland Ave.
