Donna Peyton Digs In Against Criticism Of Calvin's Jackson County Comeback

After a federal conviction, some time in the pokey and then a restart by way of community organizing: Calvin Williford has orchestrated an impressive return to Jackson County Courthouse.

Honestly, we were a bit surprised to see him show his face at city hall about a year ago when he delved back into local discourse.

Now, here's an update on his journey back into politics . . . Check-it . . .

JACKSON COUNTY'S HIGHEST RANKING POLITICOS HAVE ALL HUMBLY REQUESTED THAT DONNA PEYTON RETHINK HER CHOICE OF HELP!!! SHE HAS REBUFFED ALL REQUESTS AND SHOWN A GREAT DEAL OF LOYALTY TO CALVIN!!!

On a personal level . . . Like it or not, this is impressive.

We would not be reporting this story accurately if we didn't note that Calvin Williford has earned a great deal of trust and allegiance over the course of his career . . . Even if part of his "journey" took him to the federal lockup by way of citywide disgrace and wire fraud convictions.

Make no mistake, courthouse leaders UNDERSTAND that the "optics" of this move look horrible for Jackson County.

Nevertheless . . .

Legislator-Elect Payton proves loyal . . . Possibly to a fault.

Still . . .

Our main interest is to readers, taxpayers and residents . . .

How does it benefit the average denizen of Jackson County that even a federal conviction doesn't prevent a local power player from wielding influence in local government???

Again, to be fair, the mainstream political zeitgeist seems to be one of "restorative justice" and reform.

Brief aside: Here at TKC we can only hope that this same kind of forgiveness is extended our way on the many occasions wherein I forget to ring-up laundry detergent in the self-checkout aisle . . . It really is an honest mistake that I would correct if I knew how to make amends to a robot . . . A skill that might be useful in the very near future.

On a serious note . . . Because we ran a mayor out of town and destroyed a couple of worthless council careers, TKC was once considered a bit of a villain. Now, thankfully, people would rather ignore local politics and insider chatter altogether . . . So I guess we have also enjoyed some measure of forgiveness.

But I digress . . .

The point here is that Calvin's return to the fold deserves mention, discussion and consideration.

Instead, in typical cowtown fashion, this insider hot mess only garners quiet whispers amongst our civic elite betters until it is casually "reported" by mainstream hacks using the appropriate spin, buzzwords & talking points.

Developing . . .
