Data from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention shows Missouri had the fourth highest firearm death rate in the nation in 2020, the most recent year with data available. The numbers include both homicides and suicides.
Lewis says the impact is felt across the state and across party lines.

“These are, you know, really nonpartisan issues, and it's just about saving lives,” State Representative Patty Lewis said.
