Over the past decade Kansas City has aspired to emulate many American cities.
Because of low-esteem or a lack of ideas and leadership . . . Kansas City has imagined itself as the next Austin, Portland, Denver or even Silicon Valley.
However . . .
NOBODY WANTS KANSAS CITY TO EMULATE NEW JERSEY!!!
According to American pop culture . . . Jersey is the home of Tony Soprano, rampant pollution, endless strip malls and probably the corpse of Jimmy Hoffa. Their politics, culture and civic life isn't something to be copied . . . Instead, the sketchy municipal rep of the whole dump mostly serves as a punchline for hack stand-ups or cautionary tale that's far less poetic than the saga of more captivating disasters like Detroit or Baltimore.
And so . . .
Beyond lawsuit allegations of former Communications Director Chris Hernandez . . . The "culture" of 12th & Oak under Mayor Q and his city manager colleague is the REAL question which confronts voters & residents.
Basically . . .
DO YOU FEEL LIKE MAYOR Q & THE CITY MANAGER ARE HONEST ABOUT THE PROGRESS OF KANSAS CITY?!?!
As we slouch toward another election season . . . THAT is what voters must ask themselves even if Mayor Q is likely to earn reelection without facing a serious challenger.
You decide . . .
